Due to the delicate nature of swim fabric, to ensure your Virginia Macari swim & beach wear stays in perfect condition, we advise that most pieces from our collection are handwashed with a very mild detergent, reshaped whilst wet & laid flat to dry, away from strong sunlight. All suits that have crystal or rhinestone hardware, crystal embellishments or chain link hardware are luxury POOLSIDE items only and are not intended for water exposure.
Make Your Designer Swimwear Last Longer!
When you come home from a fun day at the beach or by the pool, resist the temptation to strip off your bikini and shove it into a corner of your room, to be forgotten until the next time you need it. You have spent a lot of time and money in finding the swimwear that is perfect for your body type so give it the TLC that it needs in order to last longer. We’ve got just the right set of tips to help you ensure that your sexy bikinis stay in good shape for seasons to come!
Hand Wash, Only!
Chlorine can have a horrifying damaging effect on your swimwear, but unfortunately, it is a necessary evil. It is best to rinse your swimsuit immediately after you change out of it, and give it a more thorough hand wash later on in the day. If you can do it straight away, that is even better, because it gives the bacteria less time to set in. Fill up your sink or a bucket with cold water, add a small amount of gentle liquid or hand soap, let your piece soak in that for fifteen to twenty minutes and then rinse it out with cold water. Ladies, never, ever toss your beloved swimwear in the dryer or try to wring it out to get rid of excess water! It will lose its silhouette and become frumpy – definitely not a good beach look! Let your beloved underwater attire drip dry out naturally instead. You will thank us later.
Watch Where You Park Your Derriere
Beach fronts and pool sides can be dangerous places. To the naked eye, the surfaces may not look rough, but trust us when we say that your swimsuit will bear the brunt of it. Rubbing against coarse and uneven surfaces will cause the spandex fibers to snap and the material to thin out. To prevent this, pick up a cute beach towel and take a moment to lay it out before you sit down. We guarantee that it will be one of the best investments that you have ever made! If carrying a towel is too much of an inconvenience or your beach bag simply isn’t big enough, wrap a sarong around your waist before you settle down on an impromptu seat.
Give Your Designer Bikini Some Down Time
Swimwear usually takes about 24 hours to get back to its original shape (did you know that spandex is called a memory fabric?), so try not to wear the same piece on consecutive days. Alternate between suits to allow them to breathe and return to their normal condition. This will help them last infinitely longer. Besides, we bet you have a host of bikinis in your closet just waiting to be seen!
We know that it takes a few extra minutes, but pampering your swimwear will be well worth it, as your suit will last and look fabulous for many years to come!
